Wayne junior commits to Dayton women’s basketball

Destiny Bohanon has averaged in double figures in her first two high school seasons

College basketball coaches can’t comment on recruits until they sign. That doesn’t stop them from celebrating verbal commitments without naming the players.

“Family continuing to grow and we couldn’t be happier,” Dayton women’s coach Shauna Green wrote Saturday on Twitter.

Green’s program got a verbal commitment from the class of 2019 on Saturday. Destiny Bohanon, a junior guard at Wayne High School, announced her decision on Twitter through her AAU team.

Bohanon averaged 14.2 points per game as a freshman and 12.6 last season. She was named to the All-Southwest District Third Team. She tried out for the Team USA’s Under-16 team in May.

In July, Green said the 2019 class will be her first true recruiting class because she's been able to recruit those players from the beginning.

“We were doing home visits when I first got here with the 2018 class,” Green said, “but the 18s were a lot of people I wasn’t familiar with. The 19s I feel really good about.”
