5 things you don’t want to miss from the week in high school football

All seven Ohio high school football divisions are down to four teams and area squads set to represent in several.

Here is a look at the top five developments from the regional finals:

1. Trotwood-Madison outlasted St. Mary’s 34-27 to advance to the semifinals for the seventh season in a row in Division III. Raveion Hargrove ran for 212 yards and two touchdowns for the Rams.

2. Otherwise it was a forgettable weekend in the GWOC. Wayne was stunned 17-14 on a last-second field goal by Pickerington Central in Division I, and Miamisburg was no match for two-time state champion Cincinnati La Salle in Division II. The Lancers rolled to a 45-14 win.

3. Alter did not have much trouble with Wyoming in Division IV. The Knights ran for 439 yards while David Rueth and the defense kept the Cowboys off the scoreboard until the closing minutes.

4. Marion Local is heading back to the semifinals for the sixth year in a row after knocking Mechanicsburg out of the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

The game ended the brilliant football career of Indians quarterback Kaleb Romero, who ran for 166 yards and threw for 69.

5. Joining Marion Local in advancing to Week 14 are fellow MAC members Minster and Coldwater.

The Wildcats held off defending state champion Fort Recovery 35-33 in Division VII while the Cavaliers beat Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 35-21 in Division V.

Coldwater is aiming to defend its own state title despite returning only two starters from last season.
