Stadium at Urbana University set for installation of new turf

The Urbana University Stadium will soon be getting a new synthetic field.

The school announced Tuesday the Motz Group will begin installation of the new surface May 8.

This will be the first time the field at UUS has been replaced since it was built in 2006.

Motz previously has installed turf at the University of Dayton, Cincinnati, Mount St. Joseph, Otterbein and Wright State.

UU director of athletics Larry Cox said in a news release the new field will enhance the visibility and marketability of the Blue Knights athletics programs and allow more opportunities for the field to by students and the community.

“With the increased awareness of head trauma and concussions it was extremely important that we opt for a turf with cutting edge technology that will provide the safest environment possible,” Cox said.
