HS Roundup 12/10: Wayne knocks off Fairmont in 2-OT thriller

The Wayne boys basketball squad won a thriller versus Fairmont 53-51 in double overtime on Tuesday.

Malcolm Curry paced Wayne with 23 points and three steals and Lawrent Rice added 10 points with five rebounds and four assists.

Anthony Johnson scored 17 points and Danye Lewis added 10 points with 15 rebounds for Fairmont.

The win bumped Wayne to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Fairmont moved to 2-2 and 1-1.

Boys Basketball

Beavercreek 57, Little Miami : Chris Herbort paced ‘Creek with 18 points, Adam Duvall added 16 and Yousef Saleh 11.

Carroll 47, Fenwick 45, OT: Sam Severt got a steal and ran the length of the court to score the winning basket for Carroll. Severt finished with 13 points and Jaden Dahm 17 for Carroll. A.J. Braun paced Fenwick with 13 points.

Cin. Christian 81, Norwood 47: Logan Woods poured in 27 points, K.J. Swain 19 and Devin McKinnon 10 points with 12 rebounds for Cin. Christian.

Cin. Country Day 73, New Miami 57: Deanza Duncan poured in 28 points in a losing effort for New Miami and Jordan Robinette added 20.

Greeneview 63, Greenon 51: Gabe Caudill and Rhett Burtch chipped in 19 points apiece to pace Greeneview and Cole Allen added 15. Luke Downing scored 17 points for Greenon.

Madison 81, Dixie 55: Grant Whisman poured in 30 points, Tristan Sipple added 17 and Jake Edwards 15 for unbeaten Madison. Jordan Butt tallied 18 points for Dixie.

Miamisburg 60, Springboro 42: Anthony Coppock led the way for ‘Burg with 16 points, Alex Ball added 13 and Corey Fries 12.

Purcell Marian 67, Badin 56: Josh Hegemann tossed in 26 points to keep Badin close, but Purcell Marian’s 24-of-28 performance at the foul line sealed the victory.

Sidney 60, Stebbins 56: Sidney prevailed in a battle of unbeaten Miami Valley League squads. Darren and Devin Taborn combined for 32 points to lead the way.

Tippecanoe 65, Piqua 48: Zach Frederick put up 20 points to spur Tippecanoe. Riley Hill and Dresean Roberts tallied 10 points apiece for Piqua.

Troy Christian 57, Dayton Christian 47: Brady Woodall scored 15 points and Devin Dreier 11 in the loss for Dayton Christian.

West Liberty-Salem 68, Fairbanks 59: Jack Eggleston totaled 23 points, Holden Nease 17 and Matthew Loffing 13 to help WLS move to 2-0 in conference play.

Girls Basketball

Coldwater 45, Celina 27: Lauren Gilliland tallied 18 points with 13 rebounds and Kate Leichty and Annelise Harlamert added 12 points apiece for Coldwater.

Fort Loramie 60, New Knoxville 26: Dana Rose recorded 16 points with seven rebounds and five blocks to lead unbeaten Fort Loramie.

Fort Recovery 55, Blackford (IN) 36: Kierra Wendel paced Fort Recovery with 18 points.

Marion Local 47, Wapakoneta 38: Heidi Rethman tallied 15 points and Alana Pohlman 11 to lead Marion Local.

Miamisburg 2118, Springboro 2003: Justin Grice had games of 211 and 206 to pace Miamisburg.

Middletown 2796, Sycamore 2437: Austin Smith finished with a 491 series and James Prater added a 263 game for Middletown.

Middletown 1926, Sycamore 725: Rhianne Theiss shot a career-high 221 game to lead Middletown.
