HS Roundup 5/10: Wagner, Clark, Ruppert, Johnson headline SWBL awards

The 2019 SWBL Softball All-League Team was announced Friday.

Dixie’s McKinlee Ruppert was named Player of the Year and Taylor Johnson of Madison was honored as Pitcher of the Year in the Buckeye division.

For the Southwestern division, Bellbrook’s Kaley Clark was named Player of the Year and Monroe’s Alyssa Wagner earned Pitcher of the Year honors.

Madison’s Dean Howard won Coach of the Year in the Buckeye division, while Brookville’s Bob Lenser took the honors in the Southwestern.

Baseball

Anderson 4, Fairfield 2: Anderson rallied from down two runs for the win. Jacob Sherriff swatted a triple for Fairfield.

Anna 10, Tri-County North 0: Tyler McClay doubled and drove in four to lead Anna to victory.

Arcanum 11, Miami East 1: Lane Byrne added a double and two RBI and Cory Ross went 3-3 for Arcanum.

Coldwater 6, Versailles 1: Cole Frilling tossed a complete game and Coldwater scored four runs in the fifth inning to secure the win and a Midwest Athletic Conference title.

Greeneview 6, Southeastern 1. Taylor Stinson went 3 for 3 with a walk, while Jack Nix went 3 for 4. Mitchell Hines, Hunter Anderson, and Josh Robinson had 2 hits. Ian Tamplin, Tommy Rawlins, and Braydan Dobney had 1 hit each. Tommy Rawlins pitched a complete game with 6 strikeouts.

Lima Shawnee 6, St. Henry 0: Jake Hutchins’s home run and double spurred Lima Shawnee to victory.

Springboro 5, Milford 0: Senior Logan Zier put Springboro on the board with a home run in the first inning on Senior Night. Tyler Kean and Adam Schomburg combined to shut out Milford.

Tippecanoe 13, Oakwood 5 Kenten Egbert accounted for five RBI, C.J. Miller drove in three more and Matt Salmon struck out six over five innings to earn the victory for Tippecanoe.

Triad 3, West-Liberty Salem 2: Triad took the win on a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth.

Softball

Arcanum 10, Miami East 0: Arcanum claimed the Cross County Conference title in shutting out rival Miami East.

Benjamin Logan 5, Riverside 3: Grace Dearduff earned the win for Benjamin Logan. She was aided by Jenn Naragon, who hit a home run and Kylie Frazier, who drove in two runs. Lynzee Cronkleton, Dearduff and Kiersten Maxwell all had hits in the win.

Sectional Tournament

Triad 11, Russia 0: Olivia Butz went 3 for 3 and Shelby Sheets went 2 for 3, while Kendell Hughes added a triple for Triad.

Track & Field

Central Buckeye Conference Championships: The Ben Logan boys and girls teams each finished first in the Mad River division. London and Jonathan Alder boys split for first place in the Kenton Trail division and Bellefontaine girls won the Kenton Trail. Robbie Glass (Springfield Shawnee), Lauren Carter (Bellefontaine), Dustin Franks (Indian Lake), Jason Howard (Graham) and Peyton Kinney (Ben Logan) were named runners of the year.

Cross County Conference Championships: The Twin Valley South boys team took home the title.

Boys Lacrosse

Carroll 4, McNicholas 3: Ethan Braun scored the game-winning goal for Carroll. Cullin Walsh had 14 saves.

Boys Volleyball

Alter 3, Centerville 0: James Darnieder added 13 assists, Thomas Junker contributed 14 kills and 10 digs, Aidan Tyra swatted 9 kills and Collin Kepple delivered 6 aces to pace the Knights to victory.

Carroll 3, Hamilton 2:

Beavercreek 3, Edgewood 0: Jarrod Brown added 23 assists and 9 aces, Hogan Franck recorded 9 kills and Josh Culpepper contributed 8 digs and 2 blocks for Beavercreek.
