HS Roundup 10/4: TVS outlasts Tri-Village in Thursday football action

The Twin Valley South football team used a pair of second-half touchdown runs to edge visiting Tri-Village 22-16 on Thursday.

Austin Bruner put Tri-Village on the board with a two-yard scamper in the second quarter but TVS quickly answered with a Michael Crews two-yard TD run.

In the second half TVS pulled ahead with short touchdown runs from Isaac Clark and Cade Cottingim, going up 22-8 midway through the fourth.

Layne Sarver tossed a TD pass to pull Tri-Village within six, but TVS held on for the victory.

Twin Valley South improved to 4-3; Tri-Village fell to 3-4.

Boys Golf

Division III district at Beavercreek: Medalist Chet Jamison’s low score of 73 helped Newton claim a district title and berth to the state tournament. Fort Loramie also qualified for state, marking the first time in school history. Caleb Meyer posted the low score of 83 to lead Fort Loramie. Josh Swartz of Middletown Christian and Jack Shoemaker of Mechanicsburg advanced individually.

Division III district at Stone Ridge: Joseph Magoto carded a 79 and Grant Koenig an 83 to lead Minster to a district title. Adam Gerker of Delphos St. John’s tied for third at 78 to advance individually along with Jack Romer of St. Henry who shot a 79.

Girls Tennis

Division II sectional at Centerville: Katie Ritschel and Sarah Hall of Oakwood and Grace Lampman of Alter each advanced to the semifinal round. In the doubles portion Oakwood teams of Sidney Purks/Sophie Schnell and top seed Natalie Connelly/Sophia Russell reached the semifinals along with Alter’s Rachel Hawley/Emily Pojman.

Boys Soccer

Alter 2, Centerville 0: Dominic Ruffolo put Alter on the board with a goal and David Switala added the second to help Alter improve to 10-0-4. Centerville fell to 11-1-2.

Beavercreek 9, Fairborn 0: Tanner Eberele punched in a pair of goals, Caleb Russell had a goal with two assists and Joseph Butman, Phillip Wynn and Drew Vaughn added a goal and an assist apiece to pace ‘Creek.

Bethel 3, Franklin Monroe 0: Nick Schmidt scored twice and assisted on Evan Hart’s goal and Nolan Flomerfelt notched his fifth shutout of the season for Bethel.

Carroll 3, Lebanon 0: Travis Schmidt, Luke Draper and Conner Osterholt each scored to lead unbeaten Carroll.

Jackson Center 2, Temple Christian 1: Bryce Carter and Clay Aikers had a goal apiece for JC. Brody Bowman scored Temple’s goal.

Girls Soccer

Anna 16, Delphos SJ’s 0: Taylor Noll and Tanner Spangler each tallied four goals and keeper Savanna Hostetler notched the shutout to help Anna improve to 13-0-1.

Bellbrook 3, Franklin 0: Sydney Hollingsworth netted two scores and Hailee Adams knocked in the third for Bellbrook.

Lehman Catholic 4, Lima Central Catholic 1: Lindsey Magoteaux led LC with two goals and one assist.

West Liberty-Salem 8, Mechanicsburg 1: Gabby Hollar had three goals with one assist and Emily Hollar three assists with one goal for WLS. Mackensee Wilson netted the lone goal for ‘Burg.

Girls Volleyball

Bellbrook 3, Franklin 0: Sara Wolf and Mara Neal each had five kills wand Dani Westbrock five digs to pace Bellbrook.

Cedarville 3, Greenon 2: Abigail Sheridan put up 12 kills with 10 digs and four aces to carry Cedarville. Luisa Christian added 10 kills with four digs and Gabby Tobias tallied 24 digs.

Coldwater 3, Versailles 0: Lauren Gilliland led the way for Coldwater with 18 kills, two blocks and eight digs. Annalise Harlamert added 27 assists and Katie Alig 10 digs with five kills.

Eaton 3, Oakwood 1: Maley Tinstman poured in 50 assists and Annika Gels added 19 digs as Eaton held off an Oakwood rally.

Seven Hills 3, Cin. Christian 0: Taylor Whitton tallied four kills with two digs and Kaitlyn Uffman added seven digs with two kills in a losing effort for CC.

Tippecanoe 3, Greenville 0: Rachel Wildermuth recorded nine kills with five blocks, Brooke Aselage added 15 digs with 11 kills and Isabella Crow 32 assists for Tipp.
