HS Roundup 10/10: Anna keeper sets state shutout record

For the second straight night a girls soccer state record was set in the Dayton area.

On Wednesday the Beavercreek girls soccer team won a state record 40th consecutive match and on Thursday keeper Savanna Hostetler broke a 22-year-old state record in Anna’s 5-0 win versus Wapakoneta.

Hostetler tallied her 53rd career shutout, passing the mark set by Katie Carson of Chagrin Falls in 1997.

Taylor Noll turned in three goals and Taylor Kauffman two more in the final regular season game for Anna.

DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Division I at Beavercreek: Lakota East shot a 315 to win the district championship and Centerville was the runner-up at 317. Each will play in the state tournament at the Ohio State University Scarlet Course on Oct. 18-19. Grace Honigford shot a 76, Ellie Yeazell a 77 and Samantha Bernardo 78 to lead Lakota East. Morgan Rodgers was the medalist with a 75 for Centerville and Meha Pandya added a 79.

Greeneview 1, Dayton Christian 1: Holly Garnett scored the tying goal for Dayton Christian with under two minutes to play.

Mechanicsburg 1, Kenton Ridge 1: Lilly Marsh knocked in the lone goal for ‘Burg in the first half but Kenton Ridge netted the equalizer off a penalty kick in the second.

Milton-Union 2, Middletown Madison 0: Madelyn Johnson and Aulbrey Hergenrather accounted for the goals to lead Milton-Union.

Newton 7, Yellow Springs 0: Marissa Deeter booted in three goals and Aliyah Critz added two more for Newton.

Twin Valley South 13, Stivers 1: Mikiah Newport drove in her 30th goal of the season, Amelia Wharton scored six goals in the game and TVS won its 12th game, all school records.

West Liberty-Salem 2, Catholic Central 2: Emily Hollar and Sophie Cole each had a goal and an assist to help WLS salvage a tie. Lizzie Bruce and Emily DeWitt scored for Catholic Central.

Boys Soccer

Alter 2, Waynesville 1: Alter rallied with goals from Joel Bockleman and Austin Brogan to beat previously undefeated Waynesville. Jake Duncan scored the lone goal for Waynesville.

Bethel 1, Miami East 1: Aiden Waite put Miami East on the board and Aiden Flomerfelt netted the equalizer for Bethel.

Jackson Center 8, New Knoxville 3: Patrick Covert chipped in three goals in the loss for New Knoxville.

Girls Volleyball

Alter 3, Northmont 2: Lindsey Rocco totaled 27 assists with 17 digs, Cora Cunningham added 12 kills with five aces and Macy Adams 15 kills for Alter.

Badin 3, Ross 0: Badin wrapped up the regular season by winning its ninth out of the last ten matches.

Eaton 3, Chaminade Julienne 0: Shaylen Perry posted 16 kills with four aces, Carsyn Lammers 18 assists, Olivia Baumann nine kills with 17 digs and Claire Sorrell 19 digs to help Eaton move to 21-1.

National Trail 3, Bethel 1: Brooke Johnson tallied 22 assists, Angel Bowers added nine kills with 10 assists and Jaidyn Tout 19 digs for National Trail.

North Union 3, Urbana 0: Emily Skelley recorded 11 kills with 12 digs, Ella Taylor 24 assists and Ashlynn Ryder 11 digs with four aces in the loss for Urbana.

Springfield 3, Wayne 0: The 11-11 record for Springfield marks the best regular season since 2010.

St. Henry 3, Delphos St. John’s 0: St. Henry won the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Tippecanoe 3, Butler 0: Tippecanoe closed the regular season with a 21-1 record. Rachel Wildermuth tallied six kills, four blocks, six digs and 15 assists and Alaina Titley added 14 digs.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Triad 0: Alex Burton posted 22 kills with eight digs, Gabby Williams added 38 assists with 14 digs and Michele Smith 10 kills with 20 digs for WLS.
