HS Roundup 2/8: Mechanicsburg girls hoops win first OHC title in years

Kasey Schipfer’s three-pointers in the third quarter proved big for Mechanicsburg which defeated West-Liberty Salem 34-27.

Mechanicsburg claimed its first Ohio Heritage Conference championship since 1990-91, and its first outright title in 41 years.

Girls Basketball

Eaton 54, Bradford 41: Bailey Shepherd had 25 and eclipsed 1,000 career points for Eaton. Austy Miller had 13 for Bradford.

Fairborn 53, Xenia 40: Natalie Oktavec had 20 for Fairborn.

Lehman Catholic 40, Bellefontaine 30: Rylie McIver had 10 and Lauren McFarland led with 14 for Lehman.

Fairmont 50, Miamisburg 30: Fairmont’s Madison Bartley led the way with 26 on 11-of-15 shooting. Anna Long had 15 to lead the Vikings.

Springboro 49, Lebanon 43: Kendall Folley’s 15 paced Lebanon.

West Carrollton 61, Stebbins 46: Nyssa Banks had 15 and Camecia Robinson had 13 for West Carrollton.

Mason 57, Fairfield 32: Alanna Carter had 16 and Megan Wagner 14 for the Comets. Fairfield’s Karlee Mills had 12.

Oak Hills 42, Hamilton 38: Oak Hills needed a strong second half to scratch out a win against Hamilton. Anna Thomas led Oak Hills with 14; Anna Cardwell’s 10 paced Hamilton.

Lakota West 76, Lakota East 30: Kailyn Dudukovich’s 21 and Chance Gray’s 19 paced the Firebirds to an easy win on Saturday. Emily French and Grace Honigford both had 7 for East.

Sycamore 58, Colerain 40: The Aves got a strong performance from Leah Riley — 25 points and 7 steals — as they pulled away from Colerain. Kaliah Beasley dropped 11 for Colerain.

Princeton 66, Middletown 44: A hot start by Princeton carried them to a win Saturday. Sole Williams had 17 and LaSonja Hill had 13 for the Vikings; the Middies got 19 from Olivia Wells.

Boys Basketball

Tecumseh 86, Tri-Village 85: A buzzer beater from Braden Berner won it for the Arrows after weathering a ferocious 19-point comeback from Tri-Village. But that wasn’t the only cause for celebration; Easton Lewis, who had 28 points on the night, moved past the 1,000 point mark for his career, too.

Coldwater 59, Lincolnview 52: Coldwater’s Ethan Post had 18 points and grabbed 6 boards.

Fort Loramie 60, Perry 42: A good start allowed the Redskins to lead most of the way on Saturday. Grant Albers had 19 and Nick Brandewie had 13.

Fairlawn 58, Miami East 51: Ashton Piper had 15 and Skyler Piper added 14 for Fairlawn. Miami East’s Noah King led with 15; Sam Zapadka had 14.

Eastmoor 51, Stivers 50: Dalon Keaton led Eastmoor with 16; DaJuan Allen’s 20 paced Stivers.

Badin 53, Ross 37: Badin rallied from a slow first quarter to win on Saturday. Josh Hegemann had 13; Cole Gronas led Ross with 15.
