HS Roundup 2/23: A GCLC sweep at Trent Arena sectional

Chaminade Julienne, Fenwick and Alter each advanced from the Division II boys basketball sectional tournament games at Trent Arena on Saturday.

Alter, led by Brady Uhl with 16 points, knocked off West Carrollton 92-58. Derek Willits and Rich Kolb added 14 points apiece and Conor Stolly 10. Kaylen McKinney poured in 27 points in a losing effort for West Carrollton.

Chaminade Julienne eliminated Eaton 70-51. Milton Gage led the way with 19 points. Isaac Manning finished with 16 points for Eaton.

Fenwick beat Valley View 50-35, with C.J. Napier turning in 17 points.

The second round tips off at Trent Arena on Wednesday night. Fenwick will face Monroe at 6 p.m. followed by Alter vs. Chaminade Julienne at 7:30 p.m.

Division III

Anna 87, Carlisle 54: Anna put the game out of reach with a 30-point third quarter.

Preble Shawnee 59, West Liberty-Salem 44: Bryce Singleton totaled 13 points and Luke Woodard added 12 for Preble Shawnee.

Stivers 58, Houston 43: Allen Lattimore scored 22 points and Trevon Ellis chipped in 14 for Stivers.

Troy Christian 46, Miami East 35: Isaac Gray paced Troy Christian with 15 points. Will Hudson led Miami East with 12 points.

Division IV

Fairlawn 50, Lehman Catholic 30: Ashton Piper dropped in 23 points to pace Fairlawn.

Jackson Center 51, Triad 23: Adam Reichert chipped in 16 points and Trent Platfoot tacked on 14 for Jackson Center.

Russia 69, Mechanicsburg 41: Daniel Kearns scored 15 of his 19 points in the first half to spur a hot start for Russia.

Girls Basketball

SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT

Division II

St. Marys 44, Lima Shawnee 30: The win marked a second consecutive sectional championship for St. Marys.

Division III

Coldwater 42, Patrick Henry 38: Lauren Gilliland tallied 14 points with 14 rebounds and Coldwater won a fourth straight sectional title.

Division IV

Fort Recovery 38, Lima Central Catholic 34: Val Muhlenkamp paced Fort Recovery with 14 points and Alli Vaughn added 10.

Marion Local 48, St. Henry 46: Alana Pohlman sank a pair of foul shots with 5.9 seconds to play to give Marion Local the edge.

Mechanicsburg 72, Ansonia 36: ‘Burg finished the first half on a 17-0 run to take control. Grace Forrest led five players in double-digit scoring with 15 points and Kacey Schipfer added 12.

Minster 58, Waynesfield-Goshen 20: Courtney Prenger recorded 18 points and Jessica Falk chipped in 10 for Minster.

Gymnastics

District Tournament at Lakota West: Miamisburg won a District Championship for a second straight season and booked a trip to the state tournament for a third consecutive year. Kealy McCurry, Molly Witzerman, Leah Myers, Alivia Townsend, Ashley Statzer and Alexandra Johnson each made the All-District team for ‘Burg.
