HS Roundup 3/28: Centerville baseball beats Pelham in IMG Tournament

Ryan Stahl doubled and drove in three runs, Nick Hoffman added a pair of hits and Centerville baseball cruised to a 10-1 win versus Pelham (AL) at the IMG National Classic on Thursday.

Shea Hendrixson picked up the win on the mound and Kyle Mahon had a strong outing in relief.

Centerville improved to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the tournament.

Baseball

Anna 12, Fairlawn 2: Tyler McClay doubled and drove in three runs and Brayden Collier tallied three hits with two RBI to pace Anna. Ashton Piper went 2-for-2 for Fairlawn.

Arcanum 3, Tri-County North 2: Arcanum won in walkoff fashion, scoring three runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to answer two Tri-County North runs in the top of the frame. Logan Stastny and Wade Meeks each had a pair of hits for Arcanum.

Ben Logan 10, Marion Pleasant 3: Garrett Dixon bagged four hits, three of them doubles, to lead Ben Logan. Carter Rees picked up the win on the mound and Tanner Perkins tallied the save.

Butler 12, Fairborn 2: Cam Miller, Zach Fults and Logan Case each collected multiple hits to lead Butler, which pulled away with six runs in the seventh inning.

Carroll 6, Alter 3: Trent Randall and Drew Malesko each plated a pair of runs to pace Carroll. Luke Ewald hit a two-run homer for Alter.

Cin. Christian 10, Norwood 0: Mitchell Smith was perfect through six innings, striking out 11 in a dominant performance. Smith also went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI to help his cause.

Colerain 5, Fairfield 3: Caleb Schram hit a homer and Cameron Tenhundfeld had two hits with a stolen base but Fairfield’s rally effort fell short.

Lima Shawnee 5, Coldwater 2: Mitch Niekamp had a 3-for-3 night at the plate and Noah Miller added a pair of hits but Coldwater fell behind early and couldn’t come back.

Mississinawa Valley 14, Covington 3: Trent Collins hit for the cycle, hitting a three-run homer and finishing with eight RBI to lead Mississinawa. Cameron Shimp tacked on four RBI and Kyler Guillozet struck out eight on the mound.

New Bremen 8, Riverside 1: Aaron Vonderhaar had three hits, including a double, with one RBI and Zach and Ryan Bertke added a double apiece for New Bremen.

North Union 2, Kenton Ridge 1: Chris Lyle and Calvin Dibert each tallied a double but KR couldn’t cash in the tying run.

Northmont 4, Reavis (IL) 1: Keaton Kesling blasted a two-run homer and Jacob Cox went 2-for-4 with a double along with tossing five innings with seven strikeouts to lead Northmont.

St. Henry 7, St. Marys 2: Rylee Deitsch struck out nine over six innings to pace St. Henry on the mound and Jay Knapke went 2-for-2 and drew two walks, scoring twice to lead St. Henry at the plate.

Tecumseh 6, Sidney 3: Gavin Wasson spurred Tecumseh with three hits, two triples, two RBI and a relief outing on the mound to pick up the win.

Tri-Village 6, Ansonia 1: Dylan Finkbine and Gage Hileman combined on a one-hitter for Tri-Village. Hileman and Derek Eyer also had a pair of hits and one RBI apiece.

Waynesfield-Goshen 7, New Knoxville 4: New Knoxville scored three runs in the seventh inning, with hits from Brandon Van Gundy and Cody Petee, but the rally effort fell short.

Softball

Ben Logan 9, Tecumseh 1: Grace Deardurff struck out nine to earn the win along with going 3-for-4 with a homer and a double at the plate. Olivia Roose also homered for Ben Logan. Abby O’Bryant hit a solo shot for Tecumseh.

Russia 7, Fort Loramie 2: Riley Hammonds hit a home run and Olivia Moorman tallied three hits out of the leadoff spot for Russia. Desiree Fogt hit a solo homer for Fort Loramie.

West Jefferson 1, West Liberty-Salem 0: Camrin Rice had a pair of hits and Arrah Sandy and Aubrey Williams added one hit apiece in the loss for WLS.

Boys Tennis

Tecumseh 5, Urbana 0: Drew Sarihan and the doubles duo of Christian Hunt/Scott Sinkhorn won their matches with scores of 6-0, 6-0.

Boys Volleyball

Alter 3, Chaminade Julienne 0: Ben Conroy posted 19 assists with nine digs and Aidan Tyra, Luke Wilson and Thomas Junker added seven kills apiece for Alter.

Fenwick 3, Carroll 0: John Brun tallied 11 kills, Kevin Brun had 10 assists and Ethan Perkins 11 digs but Carroll fell in straight sets.

Girls Lacrosse

Miamisburg 9, Carroll 8: Isabella Whitt scored three goals and Alaina Wells and Emma Wyss added two apiece to help ‘Burg win on the road.
