HS Roundup 4/28: ‘Burg softball sweeps in double header action

Miamisburg softball bested Edgewood 7-3 and 15-10 in double header action on Saturday.

Two hits from Tori Faulkner and a homerun from Ashley Haas sealed the deal in the first Miamisburg victory.

Haas continued to lead offensively, collecting three hits and a double, while knocking two homeruns out, as Miamisburg took its second win.

Erin Teaney chipped in two additional home runs, batting 2-for-2 on the night.

Baseball

Coldwater 9, Eaton 3: Ross Weigel earned the win on the mound for Coldwater with four strikeouts over seven innings. Jacob Wenning and Nathan Grunden each hit for RBIs for Coldwater.

Fairfield 14, Middletown 3: Noah Bauman’s five RBIs and three hits led Fairfield, while J.D. Scranton hit for three runs, picking up his second win of the season on the mound. Fairfield edged out Princeton, 7-4, in the second game of double header action.

Kenton Ridge 12, Russia 6: Garrett Kelly led the way with three RBIs, a triple and a double in the Kenton Ridge win. Jaxon Wright tacked on three hits and a double.

Lebanon 9, Clinton Massie 1: Jackson Palcic notched the victory for Lebanon, as Luke Arnold collected three RBIs in the win.

Northeastern 13, Catholic Central 2: Jake Nichols’ three RBIS, two hits, one double and one triple helped propel the Northwestern offense in the win. Skylar Davis and Garrett Peters tacked on three hits and two RBIs each.

Softball

Arcanum 13, Tri-Village 3: Kloey Murphy, Peyton Bietry and Loraligh Waters picked up the runs for TV in the loss.

Ben Logan 22, Elida 5: Bailey Shope paved the way offensively, recording six RBIs, three runs, three hits, a double and a triple. Olivia Roose tacked on four runs, three RBIs, three hits, a triple and one stolen base. Ben Logan took the second game of the double header, 11-6.

Coldwater 11, Miller City 0: Maura Hoying drove in four wins to lead Coldwater to victory. Maddie Stienke tossed for the shutout, allowing only two hits and striking out six batters.

Fairfield 7, Paul Blazer 2: Rhiana Hubbard and Jordan Shotwell hit for two runs and two hits a piece in the Fairfield victory. Taylor Delk earned the win, striking out seven.

Greeneview 15, Cedarville 5: Catie Caraway recorded three RBIs, a triple and a single to lead in the ‘View win. Baylee Anderson tacked on two doubles, while Alexa Simpson threw for the win.

West Liberty-Salem 13, Greenon 3: Hallie Strapp batted 4-for-4, scoring two runs in the first WLS victory. Kayle Henderson chipped in three runs on three hits with two RBIs. Kelsey Day picked up both wins, edging out Newton 2-1 in the second game of the two game series.

Boys Tennis

GCTCA Coaches’ Classic: Middletown’s Deniz Misirlioglu won the back draw finals matchup at second singles, while Dylan Bunch took the same title at third singles. Badin’s Seth Papania was the runner up in the front draw first singles competition, falling to Finneytown’s Joel Steimle.

Northeastern 5, Urbana 0: Jake Calhoun, Gabe King and Trevor Brown all picked up singles wins and the doubles duos of Josh Morscher and Josh Calhoun and Evan Brandon and Kyle Kinder tallied wins to complete the sweep.
