The Browns wouldn’t be able to interview McDaniels until after the Patriots finish the playoffs.
McDaniels, 43, has been the Patriots’ offensive coordinator the last eight seasons. He reached an agreement to become the head coach of Colts in 2018, but pulled out of the deal before it became official and returned to New England.
McDaniels was the head coach for the Denver Broncos in 2009 and 2010. He was 8-8 in 2009 and was fired after Week 13 in 2009, finishing 3-9. Prior to the stint in Denver, he was offensive coordinator for the Patriots for three seasons.
