Reds make roster move in bullpen before start of series vs. Brewers

The Cincinnati Reds promoted right-handed pitcher Jimmy Herget from Triple-A Louisville on Monday and designated left-handed pitcher Zach Duke for assignment.

Herget, 25, was 1-4 with a 3.58 ERA with two saves in 33 appearances with the Louisville Bats. When he pitches, it will be his big-league debut. The Reds selected him in the sixth round of the 2015 draft out of South Florida.

Duke was 3-1 with 5.01 ERA in 30 appearances. He has the second highest ERA of Reds relievers. Wandy Peralta has a 5.96 ERA in 28 appearances.

The Reds start a four-game series vs. the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday at Great American Ball Park. The Reds trail the Brewers and Cubs (both 45-39) by 5½ games.
