What to know about today’s huge Reds Rockin’ 150 Birthday Bash

The Cincinnati Reds have a rare Friday off today before playing the final two games before the All-Star break Saturday and Sunday against the Cleveland Indians.

However, today does include a unique event: the Reds Rockin' 150 Birthday Bash, the centerpiece of the season-long celebration of the franchise's 150th anniversary.

The event is sold out, but a limited number of tickets will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis at 2 p.m. Friday.

According to the Reds, “All tickets claimed for the Reds Rockin’ 150 are available ONLY as digital tickets via the free MLB Ballpark app. The digital tickets on your smartphone will need to be scanned to enter the ballpark.”

Here’s what fans attending need to know:

At 5 p.m., gates open. The Reds encourage fans "to explore the ballpark like never before, including running the bases, walking the warning track, seeing the visitor's clubhouse, press rooms and private clubs and meeting current Reds players, coaches and broadcasters."

From 5:30 to 8 p.m., players will make appearances. There will be photo opportunities and Q and A sessions around the ball park with Reds players, coaches and broadcasters, but no autographs will be permitted. Fans can text 150 to 66128 to receive text message notifications 30 minutes prior to scheduled appearances.

At 8 p.m., the main concerts begin. Phillip Phillips, X Ambassadors and 3 Doors Down will perform.

In addition, “prior to the main concerts on the field, fans can enjoy DJs and live music on two side stages around the ballpark, including a performance by the Bronson Arroyo Band.”

At 11 p.m., the event concludes with Rozzi's Famous Fireworks show.
