Reds call up Adleman as Lorenzen goes on bereavement list

Michael Lorenzen won’t be available for the Reds as their series against the Marlins continues. The team put the right-handed reliever on the bereavement list Tuesday.

Lorenzen has been one of the Reds’ best relievers since coming off the disabled list in late June, posting a 2.30 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings.

Taking Lorenzen’s place is Tim Adleman. Another righty, he started four games for the Reds earlier this season and posted a 1-1 record with a 3.72 ERA. He went on the DL with a strained oblique in May and has been with Triple-A Louisville since being activated Aug. 2.

He is 3-1 with a 2.38 ERA in 10 starts for the Bats.
