Raiders expected to be strong on the pitch again

Wright State is the co-favorite for the Horizon League men’s soccer title this fall.

The Raiders and Oakland both received three first-place votes in a poll of league coaches released Thursday.

“It’s always nice to be recognized as a program,” WSU head coach Bryan Davis said in a release. “It is a great testament to the work of my boys and the staff.”

After WSU and Oakland, the coaches ranked UIC, Valparaiso, Cleveland State, Milwaukee, Detroit, Green Bay, Northern Kentucky and Belmont.

“These are only predictions,” Davis said. “All it does is put a target on our back. What matters is what we do once the whistle blows. We shall see.”

The Raiders have played in the past two Horizon League championship matches and finished 12-8-1 overall last season.

They return seven starters this season, including first-team All-Horizon League senior Eric Lynch.
