Alter High School grad Joe Thuney started all 13 games at left tackle for North Carolina State as a senior, but he said he knows that may not be the plan for whichever NFL team selects him in the draft.
And he’s fine with that.
“I think in the interior I’ll probably feel most comfortable at the next level,” Thuney said Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “I’m not 6-foot-7, so I don’t have the height of a typical NFL tackle, but I still feel comfortable being able to play tackle. And I feel really comfortable at guard.”
Thuney played left guard and right guard as a sophomore with the Wolfpack, but he started every game his junior year at left guard.
After meeting with the media, Thuney will undergo pyschological testing Thursday, along with doing his bench press workout and meeting with various teams interested in drafting him.
His on-field workouts will be Friday.
