Prep Football roundup: Kenton Ridge beats Tecumseh in triple OT thriller

Kenton Ridge quarterback Dylan Lemen hit Calvin Dibert for a 26-yard TD pass in the third overtime and the Cougars held on fourth down to beat Tecumseh 35-29 in a Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division thriller on Friday night at Richard L. Phillips Field.

Trailing 21-7 with 1:40 remaining, Lemen found Josh Hill on a 12-yard TD pass to pull the Cougars within seven points. Kenton Ridge’s Carson Jones recovered the ensuing onside kick and then Lemen hit Dibert from 26 yards out to send the game to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Tecumseh scored a touchdown and converted the two-point play in the second OT to take a 29-21 lead. Lemen scored on a 6-yard run and Dibert converted the two-point play to time the game at 29-all.

Lemen ran for 116 yards and one TD and went 12-for-20 for 258 yards and four TDs through the air. He surpassed 5,000 career passing yards in the victory.

Dibert caught eight passes for 197 yards and three TDs for the Cougars (5-4, 1-3), who travel to rival Shawnee in Week 10.

Caden Riley scored three TD and Wyatt Ferguson added another as Tecumseh fell to 1-8 and 0-4 in the CBC. The Arrows host Bellefontaine next week.

Greenon 52, Southeastern 14: With the victory, Greenon clinched at least a share of its first Ohio Heritage Conference South Division championship.

The Knights (7-2, 4-0) can clinch the outright title next week with a win against Greeneview.

Southeastern is 2-7 and 2-2 in the division. The Trojans travel to Cedarville for their season finale.

Northwestern 20, Benjamin Logan 6: Gavin Thomas connected with Matthew Hart on TD passes of 70 and 26 yards as the Warriors won for the third time in the last four weeks.

Ben VanNoord rushed for 76 yards and a TD and Hart caught five passes for 145 yards as Northwestern improved to 5-4 and 3-1 in the CBC Mad River and travels to Graham next week. The Warriors can earn a share of the division title with a win and a North Union loss to Benjamin Logan.

Mechanicsburg 52, Fairbanks 0: Keith Bebout returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a TD as the Indians jumped out to a 45-0 halftime lead.

Chayse Propst scored on a 58-yard TD run and Mack Delong caught two TD passes as Mechanicsburg won its third straight game.

Four teams are currently tied for first-place in the OHC North at 3-1 — Fairbanks (7-2), Mechanicsburg (8-1), West Liberty-Salem (8-1) and West Jefferson (8-1).

Fairbanks travels to West Jefferson and Mechanicsburg is at West Liberty-Salem in Week 10. The winner of those games will each earn a share of the OHC North title.

West Liberty-Salem 41, Northeastern 0: Trevor Woodruff went 20-for-28 for 286 yards and three TDs and rushed for another as the Tigers improved to 8-1 and 3-1 in the OHC North.

West Liberty-Salem’s Isaiah McGill ran for 85 yards and two TDs and Jace Wade caught two TD passes as the Division V seventh-ranked Tigers won their second straight game.

Northeastern is 2-7 and 0-4 in the OHC North.

Cedarville 40, Catholic Central 0: The Indians (1-8, 1-3 OHC South) won for the first time this season.

The Irish fell to 0-9 and 0-4 in the OHC South. The Irish host Madison Plains (5-4, 2-2) in Week 10.

Greeneview, 30, Madison Plains 8: Clay Payton rushed for 125 yards and two TDs on 14 carries as the Rams cruised to an OHC South victory.

Dakota Mangan and Logan Sandlin each ran for TDs for the Rams.

West Jefferson 61, Triad 26: Coleman Hauck scored three TDs and Ayden Sanford returned a kickoff 86 yards for a TD as the Cardinals fell to 2-7 and 0-4 in the OHC North.

West Jefferson’s Gabe Jones rushed for 168 yards and five TDs for the Roughriders (8-1, 3-1 OHC North).

Indian Lake 27, Graham 23: Ryan Turner's 22-yard FG in the third quarter gave the Falcons a 23-21 lead, but Indian Lake quarterback Clay Jacobs scored on a 2-yard run to lift the Lakers to a CBC Mad River Division victory.

Graham quarterback Brady King threw two TD passes to Zack Vanscoy and Jason Howard returned a kickoff 89 yards for the Falcons (4-5, 2-2).

North Union 52, Urbana 13: The Wildcats clinched at least a share of the CBC Mad River Division title in its first season in the conference. North Union can clinch the outright title with a win at Benjamin Logan next week.

Urbana fell to 0-9 and 0-4 in the CBC Mad River. They travel to Indian Lake next week.
