However, UD doesn’t know if the work will conclude in time for the annual Red and Blue scrimmage, which typically is played in late October. Dayton has contingency plans in place for that game if it can’t play at UD Arena, but hasn’t announced them.

Here are some other highlights of the interview with DeBolt:
• The center-hung scoreboard was removed earlier this summer. A new one will arrive next week and be installed in the next month and a half.
• Seats in the 100 and 200 levels were removed earlier this summer. The 6,000 new seats that will take their place will be installed starting in the first week of September. They will be navy blue like the old seats but a slightly different shade to match Dayton’s new color scheme.
• There were four mobile lifts with aerial work platforms on the floor at the arena on Monday. Workers were busy “adding bracking along the center of the roof structure to allow some extra weight for the center-hung video board and other things,” DeBolt said.
