Pair of Reds pitchers reportedly on Washington Nationals radar

The Cincinnati Reds' recent hot streak has been a lot of fun, but it isn't likely to stand in the way of progress.

Some players who have helped Cincinnati improve from the worst team in baseball to roughly the 25th-best team will be gone by the first of August.

But who?

Matt Harvey is by far the most likely Red to be traded because he will be a free agent at the end of the season.

The team would like to get something for him now that he has righted himself following a disastrous start to the season with the Mets.

Could he be headed back to the National League East?

Veteran MLB reporter Jon Heyman identified the starting pitcher as a potential target for the Washington Nationals.

That’s not all.

The club could also be interested in Raisel Iglesias.

Well, scratch that: Assume they are because just about everyone could use a young arm like his, especially given his team-friendly contract.

The Reds’ moving Ilgesias seems far less certain than dealing Harvey.

The question will likely boil down to just how huge a haul of prospects Iglesias could bring back.

They’ll need reliable bullpen arms if they ever get good again, but someone out there could give them an offer to good to refuse.
