Carnell Tate, a five-star wide receiver in the class of 2023, announced his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday.

“It feels great finally being a Buckeye,” Tate told Rivals.com. “I finally get to work with coach (Brian) Hartline and not play the recruiting game anymore. It’s all about ball. He’s all about developing his players.”

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Tate is from Chicago but now attends IMG Academy in Florida. He’s the fifth-ranked player overall in the class of 2023, according to Rivals.com, and the No. 1 receiver. He’s the 14th-best player, according to 247Sports.com, and the second-best receiver.

Tate picked Ohio State over Tennessee, Notre Dame and LSU. He’s Ohio State’s top-ranked 2023 record. The Buckeyes have the fourth-ranked class behind Notre Dame, Texas Tech and Cincinnati, according to Rivals.com.
