Ohio State’s next quarterback signee is coming from South Dakota.

Lincoln Kienholz announced Wednesday he has verbally committed to head coach Ryan Day and quarterbacks coach Corey Denis one week before the beginning of the early signing period.

“After long talks and consideration, I am very blessed with this opportunity,” he wrote on social media.

Kienholz is a four-star prospect from T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre.

He is the No. 13 quarterback prospect in the country and 172nd overall prospect in 247Sports Composite Rankings

The 6-3, 185-pounder originally committed to Washington in June and also had offers from Wisconsin, Wyoming, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas State and North Dakota State among others according to 247Sports.

Ohio State’s last recruit from South Dakota was Grant Schmidt, an offensive lineman from Sioux Falls who signed in 2015.

With C.J. Stroud expected to enter the NFL Draft, Ohio State will have junior Kyle McCord and redshirt freshman Devin Brown competing to start at quarterback next year.

Day likes to have one quarterback in each class, and he already has his man from the ranks of 2024 in Dylan Raiola of Chandler, Ariz.

Among current juniors, Raiola is the No. 1-ranked player in the country regardless of position. He committed in May of his sophomore year.

National Signing Day is Dec. 21, and Ohio State’s class is ranked No. 5 in the country with 20 commitments.
