Ohio State football: K.J. Hill reveals NFL plans

Ohio State’s 2019 offense gained a weapon Tuesday when K.J. Hill announced he will return for one more year in Columbus.

The Little Rock, Ark., has 141 catches for 1,667 yards and 10 touchdowns in three seasons at Ohio State, including 67 grabs for 856 yards and six scores last season.

In announcing his return on social media, he thanked Urban Meyer for recruiting him to Ohio State and former Ohio State/Middletown standout Cris Carter for providing guidance.

“I have decided to take one last ride with my brothers, my coaches and you, Buckeye Nation!” he wrote. “I’m ready to help lead us to another national championship.”

Hill, who snagged 56 balls for 549 yards and three touchdowns in 2017, is seventh in Ohio State history in catches and 19th in career yards.

He said before the Rose Bowl he felt he did not have more to prove as a college player but still more he could accomplish if he returned.

“I feel I had a great season this season,” he said. "If I was to leave, I would be leaving on a good note, and then again, if I did come back next year, a lot can happen, you know, with more touches on the ball, you know, being in the offense as a leader, potential captain. There's a lot that comes with it. There's a lot of potential.”

Ohio State loses three senior receivers — Parris Campbell, Johnnie Dixon and Terry McLaurin — but returns a strong nucleus with seniors Hill, Austin Mack, Binjimin Victor and sophomore Chris Olave, one of the stars of the 2018 Michigan game.

They will be catching passes from a new starting quarterback after Dwayne Haskins declared he will enter the NFL draft.
