A former Buckeye had arguably the play of the night on the first full day of NFL preseason action.

Cam Johnston’s 81-yard punt didn’t count, but it was cool.

Unfortunately a penalty wiped out this beauty, but it was still an example of what the Australian can do.

The re-kick was a 57-yarder, and he had a 55-yarder and a 56-yarder in the game.

Overall, Johnston’s six punts averaged 43.8 net yards with three pinning the Steelers inside their own 20.

Johnston spent last preseason with the Eagles but did not make the team. This preseason the job looks like his to lose after the retirement of Donnie Jones.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports he has looked good in practice when allowed to unleash long bombs but is still learning the finer points of directional punting.

In the same game Thursday night, former Ohio State safety Malcolm Jenkins had three tackles for the Eagles.

Lakota West graduate added two stops as well.
