NFL Draft: Cincinnati Bengals select tight end in second round

The Cincinnati Bengals traded back in the second round for a third straight year and selected Washington tight end Drew Sample with the 52nd overall pick.

Cincinnati traded with the Denver Broncos to move down 10 spots in the second round and added fourth- and sixth-round picks to give the Bengals a total of 13 selections this draft. The Broncos used the trade to take quarterback Drew Lock at No. 42.

Sample was an honorable mention All-Pac 12 pick after catching 25 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns for the conference champion Huskies. He struggled through a leg injury his junior season in 2017 but earned the team’s Perseverance Award ater catching seven passes for 84 yards and starting eight of the 10 games he played.
