The victory marked Virginia’s first-ever men’s basketball championship win and a striking comeback for the Cavaliers after last year’s tournament, where the top-ranked team lost to a No. 16 seed.
Virginia guard Kyle Guy, who scored 24 points against the Red Raiders in Monday’s title game, was named the Final Four’s most outstanding player.
Congrats to Kyle Guy on earning Most Outstanding Player of the #FinalFour! 👏#NationalChampionship | @UVAMensHoops pic.twitter.com/1Yhrq8EWmI
