Tweaks made for the Prelude race at Eldora

Drivers split up into teams, Indy 500 winner has invitation to race.

INDIANAPOLIS — To keep the Prelude to the Dream fresh, Tony Stewart announced a few tweaks to the charity race at Eldora Speedway on June 9.

For Kyle Busch, though, the changes didn’t quite go far enough.

“I’m hoping he either has to start in the port-o-john or the back of the field,” Busch said of Stewart, the three-time overall race winner and two-time defending champ, during a break from tire testing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Tuesday, April 20.

Among the highlights for the event that puts professional drivers in dirt late models on Eldora’s high-banked oval:

• Drivers will be placed on one of four teams, and how a team finishes overall determines the donation amount four children’s hospitals receive, including Cincinnati Children’s.

• Twenty-six drivers will compete, including 11 NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers currently ranked in the top 16 in points.

• The Indianapolis 500 winner has a standing invitation to race.
