The racing season is nearing the finish line, but there’s still some good action left around the Miami Valley including a couple of special shows this weekend.
• Eldora Speedway hosts the Baltes Classic, featuring a rare three-wide start with as many as 33 late models, on Sunday. The event serves as the final tune-up for the World 100 on Sept. 9-10.
• Winchester Speedway holds its three-day World Stock Car Festival, starting with Saturday’s practice session. Racing follows Sunday and Monday.
If you can’t make it to an event this weekend, time is running out.
Counting this weekend’s action, Kil-Kare Dragway has eight events remaining, Kil-Kare Speedway has two, Shady Bowl Speedway four, Eldora five and Winchester three. Waynesfield Raceway Park concludes its season Saturday.
Westfall wins title: Pleasant Hill's Matt Westfall claimed one of the first track titles this season, wrapping up the modified championship at Waynesfield.

Hewitt in action: Cody Hewitt, the son of sprint car legend Jack Hewitt, wheeled the No. 1 non-wing sprint car owned by Tipp City's Kent Wolters at Waynesfield last weekend.
Hewitt, who lost his right arm in a motorcycle accident in 2005, finished 18th in the A-Main feature.
