Middies grad Jeff See in 5000 Trials final

Middletown High School graduate and former Ohio State University standout Jeff See has advanced to the final of the 5,000 meters in the U.S. Olympic Team Track & Field Trials at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene.

Running for Asics Furman Elite, a post-collegiate distance program based at Greenville, South Carolina, See posted the fourth-best overall time of 13:48.28 during Monday’s qualifying round. That puts him in Saturday’s 8:20 p.m. final (NBC). He also was a finalist in the 2012 Trials in the 1500.

See, 28, made an immediate impact on the Middies, placing runner-up in the 1,600 as a freshman and helping Middletown win the Division I boys state team title in 2002. A 2005 Middletown grad, he won six individual state championships — four in track and two in cross country — at Middletown.

See was one of OSU’s most decorated runners in program history as a six-time All-American in track and cross country.
