Injured Ohio State lineman: ‘This one hit me deep’

Ohio State defensive tackle Tracy Sprinkle reacted to his own injury on Twitter on Sunday, thanking everyone for supporting him a day after he suffered a season-ending patellar tenon injury in the first half of the season opener against Bowling Green.

“First thing first, thank God I am here to see another day,” Sprinkle wrote. “Time was invested, endless hours of work was put in and sacrifices were made in order to have the best season I could have. Unfortunately, God has another plan for me. It left me lost, confused, hurt and discouraged. The endless support from everyone is greatly appreciated, and I can’t respond to everyone, but I want you to know that I am thankful. I have faced adversity my whole life, and this one hit me deep. I have faith I will attach rehab like no one else would and return to the game that I love with a vengeance. I love my team, my brothers and my family, and I know WE are still going to have a great season.”

Sprinkle, a redshirt junior from Elyria, earned his first career start Saturday. He appeared in all 13 games last season.
