HS Highlights for Sept. 27: Greeneview wins D-II Sectional

Wade Hovan shot a 78 and Zach Halder added an 83 to help Greeneview capture a Division II sectional title at Reid Park on Tuesday.

Grant Engle of Springfield Shawnee was the medalist with a 74, Hovan was the runner-up and Dillon Callicoat of West Liberty Salem finished third with an 80.

The West Liberty-Salem, Springfield Shawnee and Greenon teams all advanced.

Josh Lenk of Northeastern, Zach Watren and Mason Platfoot of Anna and Walker Henley of Miami East advanced individually.

D-III Sectional at Turtle Creek: Kyle Foley shot an 84 to help Catholic Central win the tournament. Medalist Chet Jamison led Newton to a second place finish. National Trail and Twin Valley South rounded out the advancing teams. Tyler Weinert of Bethel, Andrew Slusher of Covington, Nick Kettles of Emmanuel Christian and Steven Vanatta of Arcanum advanced individually.

D-III Sectional at Walden Ponds: Avery Green of Southeastern and Brady Roberts of Cincinnati Christian fired off a 73 to split medalist honors. Green advanced individually along with teammate Tray Thompson. Cincinnati Christian finished third and Middletown Christian placed fourth to advance.

D-III Sectional at Beechwood: The Mechanicsburg, Fort Loramie, Fairlawn and Lehman Catholic teams each advanced. Match medalist Philip Miller of Dayton Christian advanced individually along teammate Ben Kiser, Josh Miller of Botkins and Nathan Osborn of Twin Valley South.

Fairmont 11, Northmont 1: Grant Gibson and Matt Pietrantonio each shot a 40 to lead Fairmont in the match play win. Alec Audakov and Noah Thayer both had 45 for Northmont.

Girls Golf

Springboro 161, Lakota East 175: Hannah McCrabb and Lexie Ramby each shot an even par 36 and Springboro recorded its lowest score of the season in the win.

Boys Soccer

Alter 6, Purcell Marian 0: Dominic Ruffolo scored twice and Parker Simms and Ty Borton each notched a goal and an assist to help Alter move to 9-0-2.

Beavercreek 5, Wayne 0: Evin Williams, Vince Young, Tyler Dayhoff, Mark Rezecznik and Ryan Bernt all had goals and Beavercreek improved to 8-1.

Catholic Central 3, West Liberty-Salem 1: Ethan Cole had the lone goal for WLS.

Dayton Christian 7, Greeneview 0: Jake Erlandson tallied a trio of goals, Noah Alexander added 2 more and Dayton Christian completed its third consecutive shutout to improve to 8-2.

Fairmont 6, Springfield 0: Jack Bishop had 2 goals and an assist to lead Fairmont. James Molnar, Ben Kelley, Sam Burt and Caden Danner also had goals.

Monroe 2, Valley View 0: Keeper Nolan Caudill nailed down the shutout and even contributed an assist.

Miami Valley 3, Dayton Christian 0: Elisabeth Bush scored twice, marking her 10th consecutive game with a goal.

Oakwood 2, Eaton 1: Emily Dungan's second half goal equalized the score for Eaton but Oakwood netted the game-winner with 16 minutes to play.

Girls Volleyball

Ansonia 3, Bradford 1: Ansonia took the final two sets 25-12 and 25-18, moving to 12-2 with the win.

Bellbrook 3, Franklin 0: Bellbrook improved to 15-2 with the win.

Eaton 3, Oakwood 2: Eaton rallied from a 2-0 deficit for the win.

Fort Loramie 3, Fairlawn 0: Caleigh Barhorst had 21 kills with 20 digs and 3 aces to lead Fort Loramie.

Lebanon 3, Springfield 0: Ava Van Bourgondien had 15 digs and Madison Alexander added 6 digs with 6 assists for Springfield.

Sidney 3, Trotwood 0: Carrie Nuss tallied 28 assists, breaking the Sidney record for assists in a season.

Stivers d. Meadowdale: Angie Overman had 9 aces and Gracie Hobbs added 5 aces with 13 kills for Stivers.

Tippecanoe 3, West Carrollton 0: Emily Shuk recorded 5 kills with 2 blocks and Abby Hughes added 16 digs with 3 aces for Tippecanoe.

Valley View 3, Monroe 1: Valley View dropped the first set but then won out to move to 12-3.

Indian Hill 4, Chaminade Julienne 1: Indian Hill knocked off Chaminade Julienne in an OTCA Tournament match.

Kenton Ridge 3, Greenon 2: Macy Wallace and Olivia Sellers notched singles victories for Kenton Ridge. Arian McNeil won in first singles for Greenon to finish 18-0 on the season.

Middletown 4, Northwest 1: Darah Morgan, Savannah Prater and Julia Kovach won each of their singles matches for Middletown.

Springboro 3, Miamisburg 2: Springboro improved to 16-1 with the win.

Tippecanoe 5, Wayne 0: Kennedy Reeder, Ladia Coning and Alyssa Stewart swept the singles matches for Tippecanoe.

Troy 5, Tecumseh 0: Hannah Essick, Emma Kazmaier and Jackie Fulker each had dominant singles wins for Troy.

Vandalia 4, Carroll 1: Allison Baker and Xia Lin picked up singles wins for Vandalia. Jillian Milano had a straight set win in first singles for Carroll.

Cross Country

Tri-Village Patriot Invite: The Houston boys won the race, with National Trail placing second and Miami East third. Miami East won on the girls side, followed by Franklin-Monroe and Houston.
