West Liberty-Salem girls win second state track title

The West Liberty-Salem girls track team won its second Division III state championship in a row Saturday.

In the first state championship meet since 2019, West Liberty scored 52 points to beat Mount Gilead by 10.

Here’s how the team compiled its points:

3,200 relay (8 points): The team of Megan Adams, Ashley Yoder, Madison Bahan, Katelyn Stapleton placed second (9:21.92).

800 relay (10 points): The team of Kaylee LeVan, Grace Estes, Bahan and Emily Hollar placed first (1:43.04).

1,600 (1 point): Ashley Yoder placed eighth (5:11.69).

400 relay (2 points): The team of LeVan, Stapleton, Weaver and Estes placed seventh (50.24).

400 (8 points): Hollar placed second (57.02).

800 (3 points): Stapleton placed sixth (2:18.63).

200 (5 points): Hollar placed fourth (25.91).

3,200 (5 points): Adams placed fourth (1:17.96).

1,600 relay (10 points): The team of Hollar, Bahan, Estes and Stapleton placed first (4:00.33).
