The Wizard’s weekend preview

Game of the week

Northeastern at Greeneview boys, tonight, 7:30: At this point in the regular season, there’s really nothing left to play for but bragging rights.

And that’s exactly what the Jets and Rams would love to accomplish tonight in Jamestown.

Greeneview (14-5, 12-1 Ohio Heritage Conference) clinched its second straight league title on Tuesday with a 59-42 victory over Mechanicsburg.

The Rams’ lone league loss came at the hands of Northeastern on Jan. 6 — and they’ll want nothing more than to avenge that loss on their home floor.

In the last meeting, the Jets’ Nick Wiseman hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left in overtime to give them a 56-55 victory in Springfield.

Expect another good contest tonight in Jamestown.

Best of the rest

Indian Lake at Urbana boys, tonight, 7:30: The Hillclimbers can complete a perfect 10-0 mark in the CBC Mad River.

Kenton Ridge at Tecumseh boys, tonight, 7:30: These Clark County rivals needed two overtimes to decide their last meeting on Jan. 13.

Northwestern at Shawnee boys, Saturday, 7:30: The Braves will surely want revenge after the Warriors’ upset victory last season.

Things to watch

Sectional wrestling/district swimming: The road to the state championships starts this weekend for area wrestlers. At the same time, area swimmers who punched their tickets to districts last weekend will look to reach their final tourney of the season— the state championships in Canton.

Girls tourney action: The girls basketball postseason began this week, but it really gets heated up on Saturday with a boatload of Division IV games at both Brookville and Sidney. Michael Cooper, Staff Writer
