NEW CARLISLE — Tecumseh High School senior Jasmine Redman is taking her talents up north.

The two-time News-Sun All-Area Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year will sign a national letter of intent to run both cross country and track and field at Bowling Green State University next season.

National Signing Day was held Wednesday, but several athletes were unable to sign due to the inclement weather.

Redman was a four-time regional cross country qualifier, and advanced to the state meet three times, finishing 15th, 62nd and 28th in the last three years. She also helped the Arrows to a third straight Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division title last fall.

She chose BG over Xavier and Akron.

“I’m really excited,” Redman said. “I really liked the coach and the school. I’m ready to take the next step.”

Graham senior Jade Seabrook will play soccer next season at the U.S. Naval Academy. Seabrook was an All-CBC selection as a freshman, but spent the last three years playing with the Ohio Premier Girls Soccer Club and the Olympic Development program.

Navy has a strong program with 16 consecutive seasons of nine or more wins. They’re coached by Carin Gabarra, a 1996 Olympic gold medalist who was named to the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2000. She said the recruitment was a long process that began more than a year ago.

“I’m pretty excited,” Seabrook said. “It was a really cool atmosphere. You go there and you want to be a part of it.”

Several football players signed national letters of intent Wednesday, led by Springfield’s Trey DePriest, who signed with Alabama. Wildcat teammates Josh Bass (D-II University of Indianapolis) and Hayden Davis (D-II Notre Dame College) also made commitments Wednesday, as did Graham’s Nick VanHoose (D-I Northwestern).

In other signing news, Urbana softball player Courtney Fain will sign with D-II Charleston University in April.
