Several local basketball players honored by District 9

Kyle Morris and Nick Van Hoose are named District 9 co-players of the year in Division II.

Kenton Ridge senior Kyle Morris and Graham junior Nick Van Hoose were named Division II Boys Basketball Co-Players of the Year and Graham’s Brook Cupps was named D-II Boys Basketball Coach of the Year as the District 9 released their 2010 basketball media teams.

Other area players named to the D-II District 9 media team were Ethan Ward and Casey Crable from Graham, Urbana’s Anthony Marino, Levi Burns from Northwestern and Shawnee’s P.J. Howell.

Non-Area District Selections

Que Carter, Bellefontaine; Alex Davis, Tippecanoe; Garrett Stephenson, Milton-Union.

Division II Girls

Greenon senior Allie Turner was named Player of the Year and Graham Christie Dodane was named Co-Coach of the Year with Todd Varvel from Tippcanoe.

Other area players named to the District 9 media team were Kenton Ridge’s Saira House and Mariah Harris, Darcie Zirkle and Tori Purk from Graham and Northwestern’s Rebecca Bruner.

Non-Area District Selections

Breanna Stucke, Christina Pentaudi, Leah Schiller, Tippecanoe; Sadie Oyer, Indian Lake.

Division I Boys

Tecumseh Roger Culbertson was named Co-Coach of the year along with Jeff Kreill from Butler. Troy senior D.J. Martinez was named Player of the Year.

Area players named to the District 9 team were Springfield’s Akeem Freeman and Robert Moss and Erik Smith from Tecumseh.

Non-Area District Selections

Sidney’s Daniel Ocke, Zach Yinger, Sidney; Steve Newell, Zach Newsome, Northmont, Shane Eagle, Xenia; A.J. Pacher, Butler.

Division I Girls

Butler senior Kacie Cassell was named Player of the Year and Butler John Schmidt was named Coach of the Year.

Area players named to the District 9 team were Springfield’s MaRanda Boddie-Cannon and Bianca Quisenberry from Tecumseh.

Division III Boys

Anna senior Derek Billing was named Player of the Year and Anna’s Matt Meyer was named Coach of the Year.

Area players named to the District 9 team were Greeneview’s Ronnie Drinnon and Evan Bradds, Jarred Merrick from West Liberty-Salem and Triad’s Ryan Rittenhouse.

Versailles senior Megan Campbell was named Player of the Year and Anna’s Jack Billing was named Coach of the Year.

Area players named to the District 9 team were Northeastern’s Jillian Adams and Jessica Rebert, Bri Lovely from Greeneview and West Liberty-Salem’s Becka Peterson.

Southeastern senior J.P. McFarland was named Player of the Year and Southeastern’s P.J. Bertemes was named Coach of the Year.

Other area players named to the District 9 team were Mechanicsburg Adam Brown and Kyle Bossetti, Joel Elliott from Emanuel Christian, Catholic Central’s Hayden Hagerman and Reed Florence from Southeastern.
