Kenton history: The Wildcats of the Western Buckeye League swept the 2001-02 state titles and were runners-up in ’03.

Norwayne history: This is the Bobcats’ first state title game and just their third playoff appearance.

2 key Kenton players: QB Maty Mauk is 355 of 516 passing for 4,992 yards, 63 TDs and 13 INTs. WR Justin Sawmiller has 129 catches for 1,731 yards and 19 TDs.

2 key Norwayne players: QB Adam Wallace is 144 of 231 passing for 2,677 yards, 36 TDs and 8 INTs. RB Jon Zimmerly has 1,038 yards rushing and 15 TDs.

Extra points: Mauk is the son of coach Mike Mauk and this season’s Mr. Football. Maty has broken most of older brother Ben’s national single-season and career records and is easily the most prolific passer Ohio has produced. He’ll take that game to Missouri. Norwayne is a Wayne County League member and also is capable of scoring in bunches, having tallied 40 or more points nine times.
