Greeneview looking for new girls basketball coach

Rams posted best record in years last season, but were just 24-38 under Tyree.

JAMESTOWN — After three seasons at Greeneview High School, Tracy Tyree is out as the Rams girls basketball coach.

Tyree went 24-38 in his three seasons at Greeneview, including a 14-7 mark last winter, the team’s best record in five seasons.

“We looked at where we’ve been the last three or four years,” said Greeneview Athletic Director Mark Rinehart, “and decided it was time to go in a new direction.”

The head girls basketball coaching position will be posted until April 15. After that date, they’ll begin the interview process. They’re hoping to have a coach in place by May.

“Hopefully, we can get a good fit and move forward,” Rinehart said.

Rinehart said the decision was based on the entire program and not just one single season. The girls program last shared the Ohio Heritage Conference championship during the 2005-06 season.

“We were looking at where we were and where we should be,” Rinehart said. “He had a good year and we certainly appreciate all the time he put for our kids, for sure.”
