His squad, however, gave him nothing to worry about. Greeneview pulled away in the second half for a 66-47 victory at West Liberty-Salem on Friday night to keep the lead in the OHC.
“(The Central game) was a big game at home,” Green said. “And then all of a sudden we’re coming here and it’s like ... (we didn’t want) a letdown. That didn’t happen. These kids, I hand it to them. They came to play. That was a big win.”
The Rams improved to 15-2 overall and 10-1 in the league.
Ronnie Drinnon scored 18 points, while Eric Green had 14, Evan Bradds had 13 and Zach Raynor added 10 for the Rams, who need three more victories to clinch the outright OHC title.
Andy Daulton had 18 points for West Liberty-Salem (11-8, 9-4 OHC), hitting four 3-pointers.
The Tigers led 9-8 early in the first quarter, but a 7-0 Rams run gave them a 15-9 lead.
Daulton quickly erased the deficit, going on a personal 5-0 run to pull his team within one. The Tigers kept it close for most of the second quarter, but a 5-0 run over the last 3:45 of the half gave the Rams a 29-22 lead.
The Tigers pulled to within six midway through the third quarter, but a 10-3 Greeneview run to end the period gave them the lead for good.
“I thought Greeneview played awfully well,” WLS coach Aaron Hollar said. “When they get that size of a lead, we have to change the way we play. It was hard to catch up.”
Green said he was very worried about West Liberty-Salem after they played them close earlier this season.
He praised Raynor, a senior who missed time earlier this season, for setting the tempo for the Rams.
“He played an excellent floor game,” Green said. “He’s finally starting to get his legs. It was his best game.”
