Girls Hoops Roundup: Lacy sets state record for 3s in a season

XENIA — Urbana High School junior Trischa Lacy scored 39 points and broke the state record for 3-pointers made in a season in a 77-68 victory over Eaton in the first round of the Division II girls sectional tournament Monday at Xenia High School.

Lacy hit five 3-pointers and has 107 3-pointers this season.

The previous record of 106 was set by Canfield’s Jenny Kulics in 1991-92.

No. 6 seed Eaton (15-6) led 56-53 after three quarters. No. 5 seed Urbana (15-6) outscored Eaton 24-12 in the final quarter. Lacy hit 10-of-10 free throws in the final quarter and 20-of-20 in the game. She also hit the record-breaking 3-pointer in the final quarter.

Kaley Moss had 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.

Urbana advanced to play Greenon at 6 p.m. Monday.

Greeneview 48, Blanchester 42: The Rams opened up a 16-9 first-quarter lead, then held on to advance in the Division III sectionals at Wilmington.

Ashton Lovely had a game-high 18 points for Greeneview, which improved to 17-4. Teammate Sophie Sonnemon added 12 points.

Mechanicsburg 63, West Jefferson 54: Tori Purk scored 24 points and had 8 rebounds, helping the Indians hold off West Jefferson in the fourth quarter.

Mechanicsburg won its third game in a row and finished the regular season at 16-4.

Kristin Dunlap added 14 points, and Brooke Dodane had 11 points and 8 rebounds.
