Girls hoops: Bruner nets 31 points in 62-47 victory

SPRINGFIELD — Rebecca Bruner accounted for half her team’s offense with 31 points as the Northwestern High School girls basketball team powered past Bellefontaine 62-47 in a Central Buckeye Conference crossover game Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Jaclyn Demeter added 12 points for the Warriors (4-5, 1-5 CBC).

Urbana 58, Shawnee 58: Katie Raterman scored 14 points and added eight rebounds and four steals, Katelynn Derr had 11 points, and LeAnn Harrigan added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Hillclimbers (5-2, 4-2 CBC).

Urbana outscored Shawnee 18-4 in the third quarter to pull away. Shawnee dropped to 2-5, 1-5.

Tippecanoe 54, Graham 50: The Falcons mounted a big comeback with a 23-point fourth quarter but couldn’t beat the Red Devils.

Tori Purk had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Falcons (5-4, 3-3), and Darcie Zirkle had 14 points and four steals.

North Broward, Fla. 57, Greenon 55: A 3-pointer at the buzzer fell just short as the Knights finished in fourth place in The Rock Holiday Classic at Windermere (Fla.) Prep Academy.

Allie Turner went 15-for-16 from the free-throw line and finished with a game-high 29 points. Whitney Robinson tossed in 11 points for Greenon (5-3).

Northeastern 45, Catholic Central 27: Darian Rusk had 18 points and eight rebounds and Jillian Adams added eight points, seven rebounds and seven steals for the Jets (6-2, 3-2 Ohio Heritage Conference). Leah Ann Miller scored 13 points for the Irish (3-7, 1-5).

Kenton Ridge 69, Benjamin Logan 45: Saira House had 19 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals, and Lonnie Lassiter added 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Cougars (8-1, 5-1 CBC) won their third straight.

Greeneview 53, Mechanicsburg 49: Bri Lovely had 22 points, while Ellen Frescoln and Taylor Richardson each had 10 for the Rams (2-7, 2-3 OHC). Paige Lewis scored 11 for the Indians (3-5, 1-4).

Indian Lake 59, Tecumseh 26: Bianca Quisenberry scored 12 points for the Arrows (2-7, 2-4 CBC).

Southeastern 51, Bethel 44: Jenna Erwin scored 22 points and Amber Rice scored 15 for the Trojans (4-4). Erwin hit four 3-pointers, and Rice three.
