Engle, Mamer shoot new boys golf school records

Shawnee High School senior Clark Engle and Greenon High School senior Brandon Mamer shot school records during the Russ Hogue Invitational at Cherokee Hills G.C. on Tuesday. Engle shot a 29 on the first nine holes and finished medalist with a 63, one stroke shy of the course record. Engle, who had nine birdies and eight pars, broke his own record of 66, which he shot twice in 2011. Mamer, who was paired with Engle, finished as medalist runner-up with a school-best 68.

The Braves won the tournament with a score of 297 while the Knights placed fourth (330).

• Nick Sims was medalist with a 73 as West Liberty-Salem won their third straight Champaign County Meet at Lakeland with a score of 337. Urbana’s Dillon Knueven was medalist runner up with a 84 as the Hillclimbers finished second (352)
