High School Highlights for Sept. 22: Shawnee, Greenon win CBC tourney

The Springfield Shawnee boys golf team won the Kenton Trail division and Greenon took first place in the Mad River division at the CBC Tournament on Thursday.

Grant Engle of Shawnee led the field with a 71. Greenon’s Jake Richards was second with a 72 and teammate Chris Winters was third at 76. Nicklaus Lyons of Bellefontaine and William McDavid of Urbana each had a 78.

SWBL Tournament: Peyton Wheat earned medalist honors with a 73 to help lead Oakwood to a win in the Southwestern division. Carlisle won the Buckeye division. Trevor Pittman of Eaton, Ben Herman of Valley View and Charlie Mullin and Connor Quigley of Oakwood tied for the runner-up at 76.

OHC Tournament: Madison Plains edged Greeneview by 6 strokes to win the tournament. Catholic Central finished third, West Liberty-Salem fourth and Mechanicsburg fifth.

MBC Tournament: Philip Miller shot a 69 to lead Dayton Christian to a win in the tournament.

Centerville 151, Springfield 185: Cooper Jones paced Centerville with a 37 and Adam Velasco, Bryce Harvey and Bob Berner each added a 38. Luke Wells led Springfield with a 39.

Fairmont 154, Alter 155: Cameron Luczka and Brent Smith each had a 38 to lead Fairmont. Alter's Jimmy Finke was the medalist with a 35.

Fort Loramie 166, Versailles 168: Brad Gottemoeller had a 36 and Craig Eilerman added a 40 for Fort Loramie.

St. Henry 158, Russia 191: St. Henry's Kyle Naumann and Lucas Grieshop split medalist honors at 37.

Troy 149, Tippecanoe 160: Nate Uhlenbrock led the field with a 34 and Holden Scribner added a 36 for Troy.

Girls Golf

OHC Tournament: Fairbanks shot a 355 to win the tournament, led by medalist Natalie Parker with an 85 and runner-up Sydney Good at 87. Madison Sullivan shot an 88 for Catholic Central, which finished second. Greeneview was third with a 450 and Triad fourth with a 457.

Valley View Invitational: Emily Cobb shot a 41 and Oakwood won with a score of 186. Edgewood came in second at 196 and Valley View third with a 198.

Centerville 144, Springboro 169: Kayla Ramsey fired off a 2-under par 34 to help Centerville tie a school record for low score.

Football

Belmont 48, Woodward 14: Elijah Malcolm had touchdown runs of 33, 1 and 12 yards and Justin Young threw a 39-yard TD pass and added a 9-yard scamper to lead Belmont. Dawson Martin put the Bison on the board with a 2-yard scoring run and Malcolm added two more TD runs in the first quarter. Belmont took a 48-6 lead into the half and went on to won its second straight game, improving to 3-2 overall.

Alter 3, Carroll 0: Audrey Binzer recorded 12 assists with 5 aces and Hannah Hall added 8 digs for Alter.

Fort Loramie 3, Botkins 0: Caleigh Barhorst tallied 13 kills, Sophia Albers added 25 assists and Taylor Ernst chipped in 13 digs for Fort Loramie.

Franklin-Monroe 3, Ansonia 2: Franklin-Monroe edged Ansonia, taking the final set 15-10.

Marion Local 3, Fort Recovery 1: Maddie Griesdorn had 23 assists, Kylie Albers added 12 kills and Carrie Fesenmyer notched 26 digs to lead Marion Local.

Miami East 3, Twin Valley South 0: Miami East's Jonni Parker surpassed the 1,000 kill milestone, recording 21 kills with 13 assists and 5 aces in the game.

Miamisburg 3, Fairmont 1: Maura Hill finished with 27 digs and Kara Jones added 7 kills for Fairmont.

New Bremen 3, New Knoxville 0: Kenzie Schroer had 21 assists with 8 digs and Shayna Bierlein added 10 kills with 7 digs for New Knoxville.

Ponitz 3, Dunbar 0: Dale'nasia Jones finished with 12 kills and Aziza Nour added 2 aces for Ponitz.

Sidney 3, Stebbins 0: Hannah Wilford served 18-of-20 with 4 aces, Kiana Calvert added 9 digs with 3 aces and Amanda Thomas notched 12 kills with 3 blocks to help Sidney win its eighth consecutive game.

Southeastern 3, Mechanicsburg 0: Connor Greene recorded 17 kills, Leslie Flores added 9 kills with 5 blocks and 7 digs and Leah Ruby had 31 assists for Southeastern.

Tippecanoe 3, Trotwood 0: Cali Stewart tallied 5 kills with 3 blocks and Audrey Trick had 6 aces for Tippecanoe.

Tri-County North 3, National Trail 1: Brooke Johnson had 10 assists with 4 aces and Lexi Stiner added 15 digs for Trail but TCN took the final two sets to pull off the win.

Brookville 5, Madison 0: Grace Roden edged Emily Phelps in a match that took almost 3 ½ hours to complete.

Carroll 4, Lehman Catholic 1: Jillian Milano, Consuelo Gallegos-Ayala and Danielle Spanbauer all notched singles wins for Carroll.

Chaminade Julienne 5, Bishop Watterson 0: Kelly Pleiman led the way for CJ with a 6-4 6-3 win in first singles.

Oakwood 4, Preble Shawnee 1: Agatha Shafer and Jenna Geisenfeld grabbed singles wins for Oakwood. Preble Shawnee's Ashlyn Hubbard knocked off Sophie Schnell in first singles.

Valley View 3, Edgewood 2: Sara Snyder and Porscha Fleming each picked up a win in singles for Valley View. Cassidy White had a singles win for Edgewood.

Vandalia 4, Tippecanoe 1: Madison Peyton, Allison Baker and Xia Lin all won in singles for Vandalia. The doubles team of Alyssa Stewart and Ladia Coning notched a win for Tippecanoe.

Allen East 3, New Knoxville 1: Zach Davis scored the lone goal for New Knoxville.

Dayton Christian 9, Miami Valley 0: Jake Erlandson scored 3 goals with 2 assists, Noah Alexander had 2 goals with 3 assists and Alex Reid added a pair of goals for Dayton Christian.

Fairmont 1, Chaminade Julienne 0: Nathan Spangler fired in the game-winning goal and keeper Alex Harman nailed down the shutout to help Fairmont hold on for the win.
