Wayne receiver R.J. Mukes verbally committed to Ball State on Sunday.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder chose the Cardinals from a top seven that also included Youngstown State, Bowling Green, Akron, Columbia, Pennsylvania and Toledo.

The All-GWOC first-teamer joins more than a dozen local members of the class of 2023 who have announced their college choices, including fellow Warriors Joshua Padilla and Evan Tengesdahl.

Padilla and Tengesdahl are both offensive linemen, and they are going to Ohio State and Cincinnati, respectively.

Mukes caught 21 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown last season, when he also returned 10 punts for 178 yards and a touchdown and averaged 22.5 yards per kick return.

He has been a contributor since his freshman season and is rated the No. 33 prospect overall in Ohio by rivals.com and No. 82 by 247Sports.com.

He also averaged 9.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game last season for the Warriors basketball team.
