High School Football: Lakota West standout includes Ohio State, Cincinnati in top 7

Ohio State and Cincinnati are in the top seven for Lakota West standout Malik Hartford.

The No. 4 prospect in the state per 247Sports Composite rankings for the class of 2023 announced a top seven of Cincinnati, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia on Friday morning.

Hartford is ranked No. 216 among all positions in the nation and the No. 18 “athlete” prospect in the country.

He had 58 tackles, two interceptions and a sack for the Firebirds last season.

Cincinnati already has five verbal commitments from in-state prospects, including Wayne offensive lineman Evan Tengesdahl and Miamisburg teammates A.J. Salley and Jackson McGohan.

Ohio State has one verbal from a local prospect — Wayne offensive lineman Josh Padilla.

Ohio State signed a pair of players from Lakota West last year (Tegra Tshabola and Jyaire Brown) and has signed five Firebirds all time.

Cincinnati last signed a player from LWHS in 2021: Linebacker Daved Jones Jr.

Also this week Lakota East offensive lineman Austin Siereveld announced a top six of Alabama, Cincinnati, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Siereveld is a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the country’s No. 325 overall prospect for the class of 2022.

He is the No. 23 interior offensive lineman in the country and the No. 7 prospect in Ohio.
