Get ready to find out about LeBron via Twitter

With this NBA free-agent frenzy ongoing, thank goodness for Twitter. Really, how else would we stay informed?

My favorite tweet was sent by Chris Bosh, who included a picture of himself with Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade at a restaurant — with an empty chair between them.

“Just had dinner w (Wade),” Bosh reported. “Great way to end day 1 of freeagency, although it feels like someone is missing...”

That someone, of course, was LeBron James, who had spent the day having his ego stroked by the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets in Cleveland.

Even teams are getting into the Twitter swing. After meeting with Bosh on Thursday, July 1, a Houston Rockets executive used his 140 characters to suck up, calling him a “great player and person” who is “about winning.”

LeBron — what a shame — apparently does not have a Twitter account. Wade has one, but he’s taking a hiatus until free agency runs its course, although he’s hinted — on Twitter — that he might “break his silence” before then.

The fear among the media, of course, is that when LeBron does make up his mind, Maverick Carter, “Worldwide Wes,” Jay-Z or another member of his entourage will break the news via Twitter, leaving even his biographer out in the cold.

So we can expect a free-flowing supply of crazy rumors and off-the-wall guesses from reporters right up until the time Cavaliers fans learn whether they should cancel their season tickets for the foreseeable future.
