Here’s a look at how they fared each of those previous seasons with most games played in Janary of the next year.

2009: Lost 24-14 to Jets.

2005: Lost 31-17 to Steelers.

1990: Beat Oilers 41-14; lost 20-10 to Raiders.

1988: Beat Seahawks 21-13; beat Bills 21-10; lost 20-16 in Super Bowl XXIII to 49ers.

1982: Lost 44-17 to Jets.

1981: Beat Bills 28-21; beat Chargers 27-7; lost 26-21 in Super Bowl XVI to 49ers.

1975: Lost 31-28 to Raiders.

1973: Lost 34-16 to Dolphins.

1970: Lost 17-0 to Colts.
