Dayton will play the Omaha Mavericks (Neb.) on Nov. 19 at UD Arena, a source confirmed Tuesday. Jon Rothstein first reported the news.
Here’s a list of the other known non-conference opponents:
- Nov. 9: vs. Indiana State at UD Arena (season opener)
- Dec. 8: vs. Saint Mary’s in Phoenix, Ariz.
- Dec. 21: vs. Colorado in Chicago.
Dayton also will play Nov. 25-27 in the Maui Invitational for the first time since 2013. Possible opponents include BYU, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan State, UCLA, Virginia Tech and host Chaminade. That bracket should be released sometime in July.
Dayton has never played Omaha. The Mavericks, who compete in the Summit League, moved to Division I in the 2012-13 season. They had their best season last season, finishing 21-11 and 13-3 in the conference. They lost 73-63 to North Dakota State in the Summit League championship game, falling short of their first NCAA tournament bid.
