Dayton moves up one spot in men’s basketball attendance in 2018-19 season

UD is the second highest-ranked team outside the power conferences

The Dayton Flyers ranked 22nd in the country in men’s basketball attendance in the 2018-19 season, according to numbers released by the NCAA on Thursday. This is the 22nd straight season they have ranked in the top 30.

Dayton averaged 12,957 fans. That put it between Arizona (13,744) and Iowa (12,869). It was the second highest-ranked team outside the power conferences: the Big Ten, the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Southeastern Conference, the Pac 12, the Big 12 and the Big East.

Memphis, from the American Athletic Conference, ranked 17th (14,065). It had the nation’s largest increase in attendance (7,840) from the previous season.

Ohio State ranked 19th (13,922). Cincinnati ranked 29th (11,256). The average attendance for the 351 Division I teams was 4,593, a slight drop from 4,607 the previous season.

Syracuse led the nation in attendance (21,992). Kentucky, which led the nation the previous season, fell to second (21,695).

Dayton ranked 23rd in attendance in the 2017-18 season with an average of 12,996 fans.

Dayton tied a school record with eight sellouts last season. It also set a milestone by welcoming the 10 millionth fan to UD Arena, which opened in 1969.
