Dayton Flyers a No. 8 seed in pre-preseason bracket prediction

It’s impossible to predict the NCAA tournament bracket on March 8, much less July 8, but the bracketologists of the world don’t sleep in the summer.

Jerry Palm, of CBS Sports, released what he calls a pre-preseason bracket prediction this week. For what it's worth — and it's not worth much because the season doesn't start for four months — he predicts the Dayton Flyers will get a No. 8 seed and play No. 9 seed Oklahoma in Indianapolis in the first round.

The Flyers are busy this month working to make sure that, or an even better seed, happens. They’re practicing and conditioning in July in preparation for a 10-day trip to Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, in August. They will play two professional teams. It’s their first overseas trip since 2011.

Dayton played in the NCAA tournament for the third straight season in March, earning a No. 7 seed and losing 70-51 to Syracuse in the first round.
