Trophy arrived on same day new coach was hired

Lost in the excitement of the Dayton Flyers hiring Anthony Grant on Thursday was the news that UD’s Atlantic 10 regular-season championship trophy arrived at the coaches’ offices on the same day.

Dayton seniors Kendall Pollard and Scoochie Smith posed for photos with the new trophy and the old trophy they won a year ago when they split the title with St. Bonaventure and Virginia Commonwealth.

Dayton clinched its first outright championship March 1 by beating VCU on Senior Night. It turned out to be the last of 102 career victories for the seniors.
